Last year I built an app.
It started with a problem: Google Sheets was clunky and repetitive.
So, I spent a couple weeks building something for my own needs.
A month later, I wasn’t using it anymore.
It had too many features and tried to solve problems I didn’t actually have. What I actually needed was simple: log things, add/remove tags, track stuff, move on.
Instead, I created friction that pushed me away.
Here’s what I learned:
- More features don’t make something better.
- Building something doesn’t mean it’s worth using.
- MVPs should be easy to throw away.
Success isn’t always pushing forward; sometimes it’s knowing when to walk away.
